FAQ
Today the cheapest whey protein on a $/kg-of-actual-protein basis is Blackbelt Platinum Protein at $45.91/kg of protein. The leaderboard is re-scraped daily at 03:00 Sydney time, so the order can change overnight.
We rank by price per kilogram of actual protein, not the sticker price. The formula is: price ÷ (size_grams × protein_percentage / 100 / 1000). Sticker price alone misleads — a $35 WPC at 75% protein is worse value than a $40 WPI at 90%. Read the methodology page for the full details.
WPC (whey protein concentrate) is typically 70–82% protein and the cheapest per kg. WPI (whey protein isolate) is 86–94% protein with lower lactose and fat, costs more per kg of powder but is often competitive on $/kg of protein. Hydrolysed whey is pre-digested for fast absorption, sold at a premium. Blends mix WPC and WPI to balance cost and protein density.
We scrape every product page daily across Bulk Nutrients, MyProtein AU, Genetix Nutrition, Blackbelt Protein and Pure Product, plus a growing list of resellers and specialty stores. The full retailer set is on the methodology page.
Every morning. The scraper runs at 03:00 Sydney time, results are surfaced by 06:00 AEST. Each product page also shows a sparkline of the last 30 days of best prices.
